Welcome to the month of April! We would like to welcome to our Stork’s Nest Family Ms. Madison. Don’t forget April showers bring May flowers. Also, if your child has any new allergies please inform the office. Just a reminder we are getting our room fixed this month. Updates will be given closer to the date.

Infant Room A:

 

Children will hold onto a toy when it is handed to them through cooperative play. Children will also show an interest and curiosity in the natural world through outdoor exploration.

 

Family Engagement: Easter bunny w/picture on his tummy

Infant Room B:

 

Children will develop small muscle control, strength and coordination. Children will also learn a sense of self, family and community.

Infant Room C:

 

Children will develop small muscle control, strength and coordination through singing the itsy-bitsy spider. Children will also explore the characteristics of objects and materials that are non-living, living, man-made and naturally occurring through bubble play.

 

Family Engagement: Decorate and egg with your family.

 

Classroom Special Events: Spring/Easter art

 

Infant Room D:

 

Children will apply strategies and draw up on past knowledge and experiences to meet goals to solve problems. Children will also attend to, understand and respond to increasingly complex language.

 

Family Engagement: Decorate a family egg.

 

Classroom Special Events: Making bunny footprints.

Crawler Room A & B:

 

Children will develop the confidence to complete an action successfully or independently by practicing self-help skills. Children will also engage in structured and unstructured physical activity by participating in planned activities.

 

Family Engagement: Bring in a picture of your family pet (can be real or stuffed) so we can make a pet collage.

 

Classroom Special Events: Spring Fling 4/14

 

Younger Toddler A Room:

 

Children will develop confidence to complete an action successfully and independently when we decorate eggs for our classroom basket. Children will also develop large muscle control, strength, and coordination while in the gross motor room going up and down stairs, sliding and kicking a ball.

 

Family Engagement: We will be sending home 2 Easter eggs to decorate and bring back in to add to our Easter basket. Make sure to put your child’s name on the egg.

 

Classroom Special Events: We will be having the children make Easter bags to use during our Easter egg hunt Thursday April 13th.

 

Student/Staff Birthdays: We would like to welcome Grace and Chloe from the crawler room!

 

Younger Toddler B Room:

 

Children will develop an awareness of themselves as an individual with unique thoughts, feelings and perspectives when identifying their favorite color. Children will also learn to order and sort objects by common attributes, to identify patterns, and to predict the next sequence in the pattern by separating counting bears into groups of colors.

 

Family Engagement: Send home hand out with different buttons on it and having your child identify the colors. Also, make sure to give feedback on how your child did with the colors

 

Classroom Special Events: Monday April 17th – Easter egg hunt

 

Older Toddlers Room:

 

Children will develop an awareness of themselves as an individual with unique thoughts, feelings and perspectives. Children will also use increasingly complex vocabulary, grammar and syntax to express thoughts and needs.

 

Family Engagement: Please bring in a packet of flower or vegetable seeds that can be grown in a pot. We will be experimenting with many kinds of seeds and planting.

 

Classroom Special Events: Spring Celebration April 13th

 

Student/Staff Birthdays: Sabrina 4/15

 

Three’s Classroom:

 

Children will make scribble marks on paper and read the meaning they assign to the marks through writing in journals. Children will also work on their working memory and memory. During circle time the children will remember and communicate what happened earlier in the day.

 

Family Engagement: Families will collect recycles and make a project out of it with their family to bring in for show and tell.

 

Classroom Special Events: Easter party with egg hunt

 

Four’s Room:

 

Children will learn a sense of self, family and community through learning about recycling. Children will also explore the characteristics of objects and materials that are living, non-living, man-made or naturally occurring through studying fossils and making our own fossils.

 

Family Engagement: Take home activity/craft and Easter egg hunt.

 

Classroom Special Events: Easter egg hunt 4/14, Dinosaur day and Earth day 4/21

Pre-K Classroom:

 

Children will explore the characteristic of objects and materials that are living, non-living, man-made or naturally occurring. Children will also learn to understand the concepts of time and place.

 

Family Engagement: Week of the young child invite.

 

Classroom Special Events: Spring Fling Pajama Party 4/13 and week of the young child 4/24- 4/28

 

K Prep:

 

Children will learn writing skills and show knowledge of writing conventions- they understand writing as a means of communication. Children will also learn to use numbers to compare and solve problems.

 

Family Engagement: What’s in my egg? and spring family activity.

 

Classroom Special Events: Easter egg hunt outside and Places You Will Go play.
