Welcome to the month of June 2017!

 

It’s that time of year again, and it has come upon us so quickly!  This month we will be having  Alex’s Lemonade stand on Friday, June 9th.  All of the money raised will be going to help children with Cancer!

 Graduation Ceremonies!

Pre-K, K-prep and Kindergarten graduation will be held here on Friday, June 23rd. 

  • The Pre-K ceremony will be here at 10:00 am
  • The K-prep and Kindergarten ceremony will be held here at 2:00 pm

More information will soon be posted.

Monday, June 26 will be our summer move day.  Some children will start their new room that day.  If you are not sure if your child is moving up, please stop by the office or see your child’s teacher.

June 26 will also be the start of our summer program, which involves water play

Please bring:

  • a bathing suit
  • towel
  • sunblock
  • and water shoes or old sneakers for your child to be able to participate in water play

Also check to see if your child’s extra clothes is appropriate for the warm weather.  We will soon be providing a list of summer activities and field trips available for the children.

We would like to wish all our amazing dads a Happy Father’s day on June 18!

Celebrating a birthday this month is Ms. Chelsea in toddlers on 6/5 and Ms. Angela in older toddlers on 6/11. Happy birthday!! Enjoy your day.

 

Infants:

 

This month infants will be working on language development.  Young children will understand, follow and use appropriate social and conversational rules.  we will do this by engaging in simple back and forth interactions with teachers and friends.  This month we will also be working on social studies.  Infants will gain and understand of self awareness and how they relate to their families.

 

Family Engagement Activity:  Work on self awareness and relating to family.  Sit down with your infant and talk about your eyes, and their eyes, your hair, nose and mouth and theirs. Point to these things talk about similarities and differences.  In the classroom, the children will be encouraged to play in front of the mirrors to demonstrate an interest in themselves, looking and pointing at their body parts, such as mouth, nose, hands… and so on.

Crawlers:

 

This month we will continue to work on language development and concentrate on expanding our vocabulary.  We will also work on expressing favorite foods, such as favorite fruits and vegetables.

 

Family Engagement and Classroom Activity:  June 16 will be having a fruit and veggie party.  Please bring in your child’s favorite fruit or vegetable for that day.  There will be a sign up list on our refrigerator. Parents please let us know which fruits and vegetable your child can try on that day.

 

Toddlers:

 

This month we will be working on social and emotional development. Children will be encouraged to engage in positive relationships and interactions with other children. For example, the children will learn to share toys with their friends, and if a friend is hurt, or sad, give them a hug to show you care. We will also continue with self help skills. For example the children will be able to drink from a small cup without spilling.

 

Family Engagement Activity: We would like families to create their own sensory bottles at home and bring them in to share in our classroom.

 Older Toddlers /Young 3s:

 

This month we will continue to work on receptive language through our sign language review. We will also work on expressive language by increasing our vocabulary, grammar and learn to express our thoughts and needs.  In cognitive development: the children will use their memory and working memory to hold information in their minds and manipulate it to perform tasks. We will be doing this by reviewing colors, numbers, Spanish words and sign language words for the end of the year.

 

Family Engagement Activity:  We will be sending home links to sign language videos about potty training and ABC’s to help parents learn signs with their children.

 

Classroom Special Events:  June 23rd is our End of the Year Party!

3s:

 

This month children will be able to gain an appreciation of the arts through music and exploring instruments, songs and dance.  Children will also develop traveling skills (such as changing directions, stopping quickly) through indoor/outdoor and gross motor activities such as obstacle courses and races.

 

Family Engagement Activity: June 9th, Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Please see us if you would like to bring to donate a baked item for the Lemonade Stand. June 16h at 3:00 is Desserts with dad for our Father’s day celebration. June 22 is our End of the Year Party!  Please bring in a baby picture that can be used for our bulletin board.

Young 4s:

 

This month our class will be learning about space. We will work on naming the planets and learning fun facts about each one. We will also review our letters, and recognizing  letter sounds.

 

Family Engagement Activity: Draw your favorite summer activity as a family and please bring it in to share with the class, due June 21st.

 

Classroom Special Events:  Summer pizza party on June 21st for the first day of summer!

 

Pre-K:

 

This month we will be exploring space and the different planets.  We will also work on understand the differences between habitats.  In science we will also talk about what happens in the summer season and make observations about the changes in our environment.

 

Classroom Special Events:  Father’s Day Tournament on June 15.  Time to be soon determined.

Graduation will be on June 23 at 10:00.

Kindergarten:

 

This month we will be working on  literacy: phonological awareness- children notice and discriminate the sounds of spoken language.  Alphabet knowledge- children recognize and identify letters and make letter sound connections.  Mathematics – number relationships and operations.  Children learn to use numbers to compare quantities and solve problems.

 

Family Engagement Activity:  All About Me posters due 6/16! Bring in a poster decorated with you child’s favorite food, color, activities, as well a family information displaying them on graduation.

 

Classroom Special Events:  Father’s day field day and ice cream social– June 16! Join us for some outdoor fun and treats as we celebrate our awesome fathers. It will be held here 6/16 from 2:30-3:30.

 

Count down to Graduation: to countdown to the last 10 days of school, we will be having a surprise activity each day!

 

End of the year celebration:  to applaud our class and their accomplishments this year, we will be having a pizza party on Friday, June 9!! No lunches needed, just sign up to bring a goodie to share.
