Infants

Happy New Year!  Social and emotional development encompasses young children’s evolving capacity to form close and positive adult and peer relationships.  Responding to baby’s wants and needs promptly develops trust between baby and caregiver.  Younger infants will be bonding with teachers through daily routines of feeding and changing.  Older Infants will be offered duplicate toys that are favorites to engage in parallel play.

K-Prep-

This month our focus will be literacy and print knowledge.  The children will demonstrate book awareness and knowledge of basic print conventions; they will understand that print carries meaning and spoken words are represented by text.  This goal is used because the children will begin to prepare for Kindergarten and learning to read.  By the end of the year, children will be able to demonstrate correctly how to follow print in any book.  We will also focus on emergent writing as the children use writing to represent and communicate ideas in a variety of contexts, they use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to communicate; they participate in shared writing.  This goal is used to encourage children’s writing and practice daily writing skills in addition to developing a desire to write.

Special Events- 1/29 Mrs. Frost  $5 Please return permission slip by 1/24.

Progress reports will be going out this month.  I will also be sending home a form for parent/teacher conferences.  More info to come!
