Welcome to the month of March!

 

 

March 2nd – Dr. Seuss’ Birthday Celebration! We would like to welcome the Mayor of Warwick-Scott Avedisian, who will be a guest reader!

 

 

We would like to welcome our families during “Reading Month” to come and read to your child’s classroom! See your child’s teacher if you are interested! 3/13- SPRING PHOTO TIME!! Look for flyers in your child’s cubby!

 

 

Infants:

 

This month we will be looking for younger infants to demonstrate an interest in books by looking intently at or reaching for colorful pictures in books. We will encourage older infants to actively participate in shared reading experiences by pointing to and turning pages.

 

 

Classroom Special Events: This month we will be celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday! Also, please make sure to bring a jacket for your child, as we love to take them outside for walks to get some fresh air!

 

 

Family Engagement: “Learning to read is an on-going process from infancy”! Bring in your favorite Dr. Seuss book to share with the class!

Crawlers:

 

This month we will focus on science as the children explore and manipulate objects to see what happens or how things work. We will also be looking forward to spending time outside and enjoying the nice spring weather!

 

 

Family Engagement: Who is your favorite NCAA basketball team? On Friday, March 16th, in honor of March Madness wear your team colors and show your support! We will also be practicing throwing the ball in our own hoop!

Young Toddlers:

 

This month we will focus on Physical Health Development as we work on having the children wash their own hands. We will also be continuing to work on cleaning up their spaces before moving on to the next activity.

 

 

Family Engagement: This month in honor of Dr. Seuss’ Birthday, would like for you to share your favorite Dr. Seuss book with the class! We will read it during our morning group time!

Older Toddlers:

 

 

This month we will be practicing color recognition through scavenger hunts and other fun games and activities! We will also be talking about the weather during our morning group times!

 

 

Family Engagement: This month we will be sending home a list of different colors for you to find around the house! Please bring it back to share with the class.

 

Classroom Special Events: On 3/2- Dr. Seuss’ Birthday Please feel free to dress up and bring your favorite Dr. Seuss book to share!

3’s Preschool:

 

As part of “Read Across America 2018” we will focus on literacy and print knowledge of print conventions. They may recognize specific books by cover and search out specific pages. We will also work on comprehension and interest in understanding a variety of literacy experiences.

 

 

Family Engagement: Read your favorite book as a family and bring it in to share with the class. Also, we invite families to come in and read to our class as a “special guest reader”. Please keep your eyes out for details.

4’s Pre-K:

 

This month we will be focusing on Literacy. We will be working on an author study of Dr. Seuss. The children will demonstrate book awareness and knowledge of basic print conventions; They will understand that print carries meaning and spoken words are represented by text. We will also be starting a unit on construction and transportation. The children will be building with a variety of materials and making their own blueprints. This unit will focus on mathematics. The children will be using shapes to solve problems and explore the positions of objects in space.

 

 

Family Engagement: During our study of Dr. Seuss, we will be reading many of his most famous books. If your child has a Dr. Seuss story at home they would like to share with the class, they are welcome to bring it in any time. We will also be having special theme days the week of March 5th./span>

K-prep:

 

This month we will focus on Literacy. The children will demonstrate book awareness and knowledge of basic print conventions; They will work on understanding that print carries meaning and spoken words are represented by text. This goal is necessary to prepare children for learning to read in Kindergarten. The children will also show interest and an understanding of a variety of literature by offering different opportunities to listen to a selection of books in more than one genre.

 

 

Family Engagement: Plan a 10-15 minute book sharing time each night with your child. It can be a time to read to your child, or just look at pictures and exchange thoughts about the story.
