November 2018 Newsletter – Smithfield

Welcome to the month of November!

 

We will be closed on Monday November 12th in the observance of Veterans Day and we will be closed on November 22nd and 23rd for Thanksgiving.

 

We would like to wish everyone a happy holiday spent with loved ones.

 

We would also like to welcome to Stork’s Nest Ms. Chelsea.

 

We would like to wish these staff members a very Happy Birthday: 11/23 Ms. Mariesa (4’s) and 11/24 Ms. Marion (crawlers)

 

 

 

Infant Room A and B:

 

Children will develop small muscle control, strength and coordination. Children will also notice and discriminate the sounds of spoken language.

 

 

Family Engagement: Decorate a feather for our class turkey.

 

 

Classroom Special Events: Closed Nov 12th, 22nd and 23rd.

Infant Room C:

 

Children will engage in structure and unstructured physical activity. Children will also explore the properties of objects and materials.

Crawler Room A and B:

 

Children will show interest in and an understanding of a variety of literacy experiences through taking part in story time. Children will also develop trust in and engage positively with adults who are familiar and consistently present in children’s lives by forming secure attachments of teachers.

 

 

Family Engagement: Please make a snowflake with your family and return by Nov 16th.

Younger Toddlers Room A:

 

Children will solve problems independently. Children will also use gestures, body language and or vocalization to seek out help from an adult.

 

 

Family Engagement: Each family will get a feather to decorate and write what they are thankful for. Bring the feather back into be added to the class turkey.

Younger Toddlers Room B:

 

Children will try to do somethings without help. Children will also drink from a cup (with some spilling) if early self-help skills are valued and taught in their family culture.

 

 

Family Engagement: Each family will get a feather to decorate and write what they are thankful for. Bring the feather back into be added to the class turkey.

Older Toddlers Room:

 

Children will show curiosity and ask questions about the world. Children will also enjoy playing alone for a short period of time.

 

 

Family Engagement: With the materials given please create turkeys for the classroom.

Three’s Room:

 

Children will show interest and an understanding of a variety of literacy experiences. The children will be introduced to our new listening center with books on cd. Children will also learn to plan for and carry out investigations and collect, evaluate, and communicate information. Children will mix colors of paint and talk about what color it turned into.

 

 

Family Engagement: Send in family pictures so the children can work on placemats.

 

 

Classroom Special Events: Thanksgiving lunch November 21st

 

 

 

Fours Room:

 

Children will understand the concept of time and place. The children will learn about the first thanksgiving and how it came about. Children will also learn to identify shapes and their attributes, solve problems using shapes and explore the positions of objects in space. The children will get familiar with 2 dimensional shapes such as a rectangle.

 

 

Family Engagement: Yoga- Conductor breath and we are thankful for plate.

Children will develop the ability to express and regulate their own emotions. Children will also develop number recognition and counting skills and can verbalize the relationship between numbers and the quantities that they represent.
