July 2019 – Newsletter – Smithfield

Welcome to the month of July!

 

 

We will be closed on Thursday July 4th and Friday July 5th in the observance of the Fourth of July. We would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday.

 

We would like to welcome to our Stork’s Nest Family Ms. Nat.

 

 

We would like to wish these staff members a very Happy Birthday: 7/7 Ms. Jessica (pre-K), 7/9 Ms. Cristina (infants), 7/20 Ms. Madison (young toddlers), 7/23 Mr. Jules (Fours), 7/23 Ms. Alex (young toddlers), 7/25 Ms. Laura (Fours), 7/27 Ms. Tashiana (crawlers).

 

 

 

Infant Room A and B:

 

Children will engage in positive relationships and interactions with other children. Children will also engage in structured and unstructured physical activity.

 

Family Engagement: Bring in your favorite book so we can read it to the babies.

 

Classroom Special Events: 4th of July art

 

 

Infant Room C:

 

Children will learn to order and sort objects by common attributes to identify patterns and to predict the next sequence in a pattern. Children will also learn to plan for and carry out investigations and collect, evaluate and communicate information.

 

Family Engagement: Poll- What is your favorite summer activity.

 

Classroom Special Events: Summer art/ 4th of July art.

Crawler Room A and B:

 

Children will develop self help skills by feeding themselves at meal time using utensils and picking up finger foods. Children will use increasingly complex vocabulary, grammar, syntax to express thoughts and needs by practicing new words and using simple signs.

 

Family Engagement: Please practice signs for “more”, “eat” and “drink” at home.

 

Classroom Special Events: July 3rd Ice cream Party, July 10th and July 24th Waterplay!

 

Student/Staff Birthdays: 7/27 Ms. Tashiana

 

 

Younger Toddler Room A and B:

 

Children will repeat new words adults say. Children will also explore living surfaces. (ex. Rolling in grass or playing in dirt)

 

Family Engagement: Parents will decorate a beach ball with their child to be hung in the classroom.

 

Classroom Special Events: 4th of July Party (on July 3rd)

Older Toddlers Room:

 

Children will participate in outdoor play. Children will also engage in sitting back into their chair to sit down.

 

Family Engagement: Bring in your favorite stuffed animal.

 

Classroom Special Events: Closed July 4th and 5th, First day of water play July 3rd.

 

Student/Staff Birthdays: 7/23 Siddarth

 

 

Three’s Room:

 

Children will recognize and identify letters and make letter sound connections. (Recognize and identify a few letters in their own name) Children will also learn to measure objects by their various attributes (length, height, weight, volume) and to use differences in attributes to make comparisons. Children will measure each other and recognize the differences in heights.

 

Family Engagement: Shapes to be sent home to make a shape collage.

 

Classroom Special Events: 4th of July get together 7/3, Teddy bear picnic 7/10

 

Student/Staff Birthdays: 7/25 Ms. Laura

 

 

Fours Room:

 

Children will gain a sense of self by describing their own and others personal characteristics. The children will make self-portraits focusing on their characteristics. Children will work on their memory and working memory. We will play games such as alphabet and number bingo.

 

Family Engagement: Projects to be sent home for the children to work on with their family.

 

Classroom Special Events: Teddy bear picnic.

Pre-K Classroom:

 

Children will explore the characteristics of objects and materials that are living, non-living, man-made or naturally occurring. We will describe the characteristics that define living things. Children will also learn to measure objects by their various attributes and use differences in attributes to make comparisons.
