Welcome to the month of May! We would like to wish all of our mothers a happy Mother’s Day!! May your day be filled with love and appreciation.

Infant Room A and B:
Children notice and discriminate the sounds of spoken language. Children will also gain an appreciation for and participate in the creative arts.

Family Engagement: Asking for a picture of mommy and me!

Infant Room C:
Children will learn to measure objects by their various attributes and to use differences in attributes to make comparisons- explore volume as they wrap their fingers around an object or around ab adults finger. Children will also increase skills at adjusting to changes or demands and perspectives.

Classroom Special Events:Work on special present for Mother’s Day!

Crawler Room A and B:
Children learn to identify shapes and their attributes, solve problems using shapes and explore the positions of objects in space by working with shape sorts and puzzles. Children will also gain an appreciation for and participate in the creative arts by using different mediums to express themselves.
Classroom Special Events: We will be working on special Mother’s Day projects
Family Engagement: Bring in a book that your child enjoys reading with mom to share with the class.

Young Toddlers A Room:
Children will have a general understanding of the passing of time. After am story time we have our lunch. Children will also toss a ball into a large container.
Classroom Special Events: We will be making a special gift for our mommy’s to celebrate Mother’s Day on May 13th.
Family Engagement: Since the theme for the month of May is animals, I am asking the parents to have the children bring in one of their favorite animal books to share with friends during story time.

Young Toddlers B Room:
Children will ask who, what, why and where questions. Children will demonstrate joy, pleasure and excitement in learning to do new things.
Classroom Special Events: Mother’s Day project
Family Engagement: Send home an animal to decorate for our barn.

Older Toddlers Room:
Children will demonstrate preferences for favorite colors. Children will also demonstrate an awareness of daily routine.
Classroom Special Events: Place mat collage for Mother’s Day.
Family Engagement: Bring in a picture of a jungle animal (magazine, book etc.)

Three’s Room:
Children will engage in positive relationships and interactions with others by working together to build a friendship quilt. Children will use increasingly complex vocabulary, grammar, and syntax to express thoughts and needs.
Family Engagement: Take home planting
Classroom Special Events: Mother’s Day tea and pastry.
Pre-K Classroom:
Children will explore the characteristics of objects and materials that are non-living, living, man-made or naturally occurring. Children will learn to measure objects by their various attributes (length, weight and volume) and to use difference in attributes to make comparisons.
Family Engagement: Insect facts, songs and fingerplays.
Classroom Special Events Mother’s Day tea, Friday May 11th 3:30-4:30

Children will explore the characteristics of objects and materials that are living, non-living, man-made or naturally occurring. Children will also understand concepts of time (past, present and future) and place.
Family Engagement:Mother’s Day brunch 5/11. Send in a picture with child and mom (or grandma) and one with child and dad (or grandpa)
